Weekend journal

In the weekend i didn't do much. on Friday i went to the town square opening. it was quite interesting and fun. after that i went ice skating. when i first got there there was nobody there except for my sister. then about 30 minutes later it was packed. then my family went down to the picnic tables beside the movie theater to have a chat with one of my mums friends. on Saturday i spent my whole day getting wet while drenching calves and moving half the calves down the road. then on Sunday morning we then moved the other half of the calves. then we went to granddads to help him lay out some pipe. then we had morning tea there. that was my weekend and this will be my last weekend journal.

In the weekend i had fun. On Saturday after camp i had to wake up at 8 in the morning the day after camp to go to Christchurch. the reason i had to go because we were dropping one of my brothers friends and it was my great Nana's 89th birthday. we went out for lunch. afterwards me Bridget and mum went to the mall. when i was walking through the mall i caught up with one of my new mates from the st beads sleepover that i did. On Sunday i went out hare shooting with my dad at 10. i got 4 hares with 5 bullets within the first hour but then for a little while there was nothing around. then when we went down the back to look for a deer. My dad thought he saw one but it was just a possum. Then my dad shot it. then we went around to look for some pigs and on the way there there were plenty of hares but my dad didn't want me to shoot them just in case i scared the pigs away. there were no pigs and on the way back there was no hares in sight. On Monday i didn't do much as i used it as a rest day. that was may weekend.

in the weekend i didn't do much. On friday my brother came home for the end of the year. I played heaps of games with him. On saturday my Nana and Poppa came over for the weekend. then dad cooked some nice venison while I was watching the Tonga VS England which was a great game. then on sunday I woke up at 5:30 in the morning to watch the all blacks game. It was quite close. then Later on i watched Hacksaw Ridge which is a great movie. At night i also watched the V8 supercars on tv which was and entertaining race. that was all i did.

My weekend hunting story

On Friday Night since that my brother was home and me and him have a running competition on hare shooting dad took us out for a look. Dad also brought his gun just in case we saw a deer. So when we were going past the quarry Shaun shot a hare. then when we drove for a bit longer once we came around the corner looking into a big paddock Dad and i both saw the deer's eyes with the ute headlights but shaun did not. We were about 300 yards away and too far for dad to get a good shot on it. to get closer we could do it but there was a massive wet hole in the way. When dad started to drive foward he remembered to put the ute in 4WD. However the 4 wheel drive didn't go in quick enough and we got stuck in the wet hole. Mean while the deer just looked at us because it had never seen a spotlight before. we finally got out of the wet hole and got about 200 yards away. then we jumped out of the ute and dad shot the deer right in the heart. when we were gutting it our spotlight went flat. after we finished gutting it and got home it was 00:30 and we left at 22:00.

In the weekend i did a lot. firstly on Friday i mowed the lavs all around the house. then i went out hare shooting and i got a hare. On Saturday i was outside for majority of the day. Firstly me and Bridget played a game of cricket. Me and Bridget then made some Halloween cupcakes that taste very nice. then we went swimming out by the back of our farm. then me and dad went out hare shooting again but there was nothing out. later on i watched the kiwis vs Samoa which the kiwis won 38-8. On Sunday i didn't do much but i watched mid Canterbury vs west coast. i saw a lot of people i knew on TV. that was all i did.

In the weekend did a lot. on Friday my brother came home because it was labor weekend. since that my dad was white baiting it was only Mum, Shaun, Bridget and i at home. On Saturday at 2 in the afternoon i started a 1000 piece puzzle and by tea time i had half of it done. Then i stayed up to watch the rugby which the all blacks lost. Then i didn't have much of the puzzle left to do so i stayed up till one in the morning to finish my puzzle. On Sunday i didn't do much but on Monday i went to Springfield to drop Shaun off but it was hot and i was wearing all of my winter clothes. I also saw my cousin and my Nana. That was what i did in my weekend.

Why all 1 XV rugby players should be surprise drug tested

In class for the last few weeks of the term we have been writing a variety of speeches and we had to choose one to share in front of the class. I choose to share my speech about why first fifteen rugby players should be surprise drug tested. Some of the ups and downs of my speech journey were that my time management was a bit off but a positive was sharing i felt really confident. i had a lot of prior knowledge on the topic and learnt a lot more along the way. I think i informed my audience a lotmre about the topic

Statistical investigation

In class we have been doing statistical investigations on a topic of our choice. I chose to make a line graph over the course of 20 years about the number of home runs hit by major league baseball teams per season. I chose the New York Yankees, The Chicago white Sox and the Baltimore oriels. Here are some facts from my investigation.

Interestingly the Yankees and the White Sox hit the same number of Home Runs during the 2004 season

The Orioles have had a massive fall since 1996 but have gone back to their winning ways in 2016

In the weekend I did a lot. On Friday afternoon I went to Christchurch to watch my sister play Hockey over the weekend. They lost 3 nil, 4 nil, and 5 nil. Then we went to Margret Mahy  Park to mess around on. On Sunday I was really tired because of daylight savings and I had to wake up at 7 in the morning to watch another game of hockey. When we got home I played pie face with my sister and we had heaps of fun.

In the weekend i did a lot of things. On Saturday I went into town with dad to do some jobs to do with the farm. We went out to cobden to see one of dads farmer friends. dads farmer friend had another person over who had these 2 adorable and playful dogs that kept my busy while they talked farming. Then i went home. I then watched the all blacks game which they won 57-0. Afterwards I went out hunting for a big stag with dad and some other people. The people we went with had a Night vision scope which detected heat. We saw a deer in the scope but when we shone the spotlight on it but it was on the bush line so it just ran in the bush. We got home and watched the league finals and i was shocked by the results. On Sunday i didn't do much except for clean out the calf sheds with dad.

In the weekend i didn't do much. On Friday night my older brother came home for the weekend. Then I stayed up and watched the league. On Saturday the weather was absolutely atrocious. When there was a lot of hail on the trampoline I went outside, barefoot to jump on the hail covered trampoline and it was extremely cold on my feet.Later I watched the all blacks game, then I watched the other game of league that was on after the rugby. On Sunday I made a yogurt cake and went to Hokitika with dad to see one of his friends. Then we dropped off my older brother at the airport. that was my weekend.

for the past 3 weeksIn class for perssuasive writing we got set the task of making an ad. I chose to make this ad with Niko, Theo, Ridge, Jakob and myself. I had lots of fun making it and we all did an equal share of work. We all thought we met the criteria. I personally thought the lighting and places we filmed didn't work. Our planning worked really well and if i personally could change one thing, i would get a front on shot of the flaming scamborghini going into the lake. Aside from that the ad was a personal success and ithink everyone involved had fun making the ad.

In the weekend I did quite a lot. Friday i went out with dad to go hare shooting. I got 2 hares, I shot one in the front shoulder and the other one I shot just dropped dead. On Saturday at 7.00 in the morning i went out to help dad on the farm. We fed the calves, moved cows over the river and went up to our runoff to feed out a bale of hay. Dad taught me howto drive his old white Ute while we were up there. It was really fun to drive. When i got home Bridget wasn't home because she had hockey up in Blenheim. Me and dad went out hare shooting again for a very short time because it was really dusty on the track. That's all i really did.

In the weekend I did a lot. On Saturday it was my 13th birthday. I had My Nana and Brother come over for the weekend. I didn't do much apart from open presents and eat food. Earlier on in the morning my granddad came over to wish me a happy birthday. Later that night my Nana cooked a beautiful tea and a wonderful dessert. At 10 that night i watched the all blacks game. On Sunday My Nana taught me how to cook and omelette. Then I had to do a load of wood for a guy named Ross. That was my weekend.

In the weekend i did a lot. when i woke up on Saturday morning I had a really sore back and I had to play league. Dad went over to Christchurch to watch my older brother play rugby. They beat St Thomas's 62-7. Meanwhile I went into town to play a game of league against Cobden. We were getting hammered in the first half. Since that the cobden coach didn't care and we were down on numbers we brought in Brett, Henry and Daniel from the under 16's to help us out. We still lost but In the game I scored my first try in 5 years by beating 2 defenders and scoring in the corner. On sunday morning I woke up at 2 in the morning to watch the super rugby grand final. In my opinion the lions red card changed the game. Later on me and dad went out to do wood splitting. That was my weekend.

In the weekend i did stuff. Firstly On Saturday i had west coast trials. I think I did well but i had to play majority of the game in a position i'm not used to playing. After that we went to the super market. while mum went in i stayed outside so i could watch 2 para gliders fly around. After that i went home. On sunday I woke up and helped dad out on the farm for the whole day. We fed out bailedge, Moved cows and put cows on the truck. The heaviest beef animal was 560Kgs. That was all i did for my weekend.

In the weekend I did a lot. On Friday afternoon we went into town thinking that Bridget's Hockey was on. I went to the library for a bit to chill out while Bridget was getting her hair cut. After that Bridget's hockey was called off. I then went to Noel  Leeming to buy my own digital camera. On Saturday I woke up at 6:30 to drive over to Christchurch and watch my older brother play rugby. They beat St Andrews 27-5. When we were walking back to the car I saw Scott Robertson the Crusaders coach so I got a photo with him. After that I went home and watched the lions game. When Sonny Bill Williams got red carded I was really happy because I don't really like him. On Sunday Me and Bridget played ping pong. Then I went up to the runoff to help move our cows up to the yards.

Response writing

For the past 3 Weeks Ruma J has been writing responses for movies,books,art and even rugby matches! Basically we chose something to write a response on, after we wrote the response we had to make a creative response. This could include A fake movie trailer, highlights of the rugby match and artwork. I did my response on the 2011 rugby world cup grand final Between New Zealand and France. For my creative response I did a reenactment of the game. Hope you enjoy.

New Zealand At The 2011 Rugby World Cup

In 2011 the All Blacks were competing in the rugby world cup hosted by New Zealand. The rugby world cup Is held once every 4 years and is competed by 20 of the best rugby nations in the world for the william webb ellis cup. The All Blacks won the competition by beating France in the grand final 8-7 at Eden Park. It was their 2nd world cup win with the only other time they had won the cup was in 1987. It was the largest sporting event held in New Zealand So it was a big deal for the All Blacks to try and take out the cup in front of their home fans.

It was a tournament that was felt all around the world that left fans on the edge of their seats.

After advancing through the pool and finals stages The all blacks were in the grand final against their old mates. France.When I found out it was these two teams in the final I thought it would be another iconic grudge match waiting to happen. There was a bit of history between these 2 sides from the 2007 world cup Quarter final where Wayne Barnes the referee let a clear forward pass through to let the french to score the game winning try. This knocked new zealand out of the 2007 world cup. They were looking for revenge.

One key moment was the surprise selection of Stephen Donald. I found it amazing because of the depth in the All Blacks in the first five position. Because in the tournament Dan carter and Colin Slade both got injured early. It was astonishing that he was still ready to play a game for the all blacks. He was that unprepared his jersey didn’t fit him anymore and he was white baiting the day before he got the call up. He played the game in an undersized jersey.

The game was an edge of your seat affair that left fans in suspense. The game had plenty of clinical moments with the first one being Tony Woodcock’s try off a sneaky line out move. The lead could have been extended by more but Piri Weepu couldn’t land his kicks. A moment that was vital in the game was when Aaron Cruden got Injured and on came the unlikely her, Stephen Donald. When he came on I felt annoyed that Cruden got injured but the game must go on. At halftime it was 5-0. Everyone knew that the door was wide open for the french to make a comeback. It had me quite worried.

The game continued to keep fans engaged into the second half as  New Zealand got a penalty 40 Metres out from the french try line within Stephen Donald's kicking range. They took the penalty goal option to try and extend their lead. I felt nervous when he was taking the kick. He landed the penalty goal which was so clinical for later in the game. 2 minutes later the french Scored a try under the goal posts with Thierry Dusautoir. It was converted and the french were right back in the game. This Concerned me knowing that the french will fight.

The french had a chance to take the lead but blew the penalty kick. I felt relieved but only for a short time. In the dying seconds of the game the french conceded a penalty and the all blacks kicked it out and won the game. The excitement was real. I felt really relieved, happy, and excited that the 24 year wait was over for New Zealand to win their 2nd word cup.

The game was wonderfully played with plenty of twists and turns. If you are new to the game of rugby I suggest you watch a Bledisloe cup match. Also you can get behind your nation every 4 years for the next rugby world cup. I recommend that you watch this match as it was big deal for everyone in the rugby community.

In the weekend I Did things. On Saturday I played a game of league against Marist Waro-Rakau. We lost 42-12. I had 6 bruises after the game. After that I went home and watched The All blacks vs the British and Irish lions. On Sunday Dad and Benny Fixed me and Bridgets bikes. Then Bridget and I Rode our bikes for 7 KM to sell raffle tickets for Bridget's hockey but we only sold 2. Then at 3 I went for another 5 KM bike ride up to waterfall creek. That was my weekend.

In the weekend I did stuff and things. Firstly on Friday night me and dad went out to look for a deer. We were driving down the track and we saw a deer on the bush line with the spotlight but it was running like speedy Gonzales to the bush. we didn't get it though, Later that night we saw another one up on a hill but it was too far away. On Saturday i went to Theo and Nikos house to get a ride into league. We lost to cobden but we scored 2 tries. On Sunday I woke up at 9:30 and help around the house I took some stuff to the dump and then I shot at some old full beer cans. I shot one of the backs out of the cans and beer exploded everywhere. Then I made cinnamon and chocolate chip doughnuts. That was my weekend.

The Kitchen stove review

The Kitchen Stove by Eric Wilson created in 1943 is an abstract piece of art that is a collage depicting a kitchen stove. In the picture if you look at the piece of art in the right angles you can see these things: a knife, a cupboard, a cat and mouse, some tinned food, a teapot and keys. The background is a badge colour that fits perfectly with the more vibrant foreground colors that pop out at you. He has used the cubism style and also used paints and collage. All of the items in this piece are stacked up on top of each other in a collage form so that you can see the items on the bottom briefly.

This is a wonderfully done piece of art that makes me feel mystified and second guessing myself, wanting to know more.

For me at a first glance this artwork looks like the front window of a music shop with all of the instruments lined up behind each other; I would call it the music shop. But once I learned the title of the art was called the kitchen stove, you start to see the normal things you find in the kitchen but on a collage.

This artwork makes me feel mystified because you can’t decide what the piece really is. My mind says to me it’s a music shop but the artist deliberately makes you second guess yourself when looking at this piece.

I can make a connection to this piece of art because I have tend to help out in the kitchen. Sometimes I cut and peel the vegetables and prepare the food.

Overall this piece of art Is beautiful and well rounded, that makes me feel deceived whenever I see the artwork.

Weekend Journal.

In the long weekend I did a lot. on saturday morning i woke up at six to be on the road at 7 to go to christchurch. we had to be there at 9:45 to watch my brother play rugby. We we\ got there he scored a try and the he scored one straight after his first. Near the end of the game he took a knee to the head and got a big cut above his eye. After his game Dad, Bridget and I went to My Nana's place while Mum and shaun went to 24 hour surgery to get stitches. After that Shaun, Dad and I went to the Crusaders vs Highlanders. Unfortunately the Highlanders lost 22-25. After that we went back home. On sunday we didn't do much apart from go out hunting for deer. we didn't see any deer. But on our way out there was this hare that we took a shot at it and blew its back leg out. On monday Dad and shaun went out and looked for shami. The didn't get anything. later that night shaun went back on the plane. that was my weekend

Weekend Journal

In the weekend I did alot of things. Firstly I went to play a game of leauge which was town vs country. I was in the country team but we lost. Then I went to the warehouse and brought Theo and Niko there birthday presents. After I went to there place for a sleepover with Ridge,Tylar and Jakob. We lit some fireworks then went down the track to see the glowworms. We then watched a movie and then fell asleep. The next morning we played a game that there were 3 cops and 3 robbers. I was one of the robbers i only got caught once. Later that day we went paintballing. I only got shot 3 times. Once in the nipple, once in the mask and once in the foot. It was really fun. Our team won 4 points to 0. After that i went home. That was my weekend.

In the weekend I didn't really do much. On Saturday I played a game of league against Waro-Rakau/ Marist at blackball. We lost by a bit. I went home after the game, had a shower and waited 5 hours to watch the highlanders game at 9:40. Then I went to sleep in my old bed for the last time for now. On Sunday We had one of mums friend come over. Later that night we took a spare bed out of my room and put a new double bed in that no one had used. I have Theo and Niko my 2 friends coming over this afternoon which im looking foward to. That was my weekend.

In the weekend I didn't do much. Firstly on friday I went to see my sister play hockey. On saturday I played a game of league at Dobson Against Suburbs. We lost. Since that Theo and Niko needed a ride home we  took them back to there place. After that we went home and watched the Crusaders game. Then I went to sleep but woke up at one in the morning and watched the highlanders game. After that I went back to bed. I woke up again on that sunday morning. I gave mum her mothers day gift that I made at tech. I didn't do much on sunday. That was my weekend

In the weekend I Did a lot. Firstly I woke up at 5 Am to watch the Highlanders game. I didn't go out duck shooting because I was watching the game. Later that afternoon I played a game of League against Cobden. We got absolutely hammered because they had way more players than us. After the game I went home. At 7 that night Me, Dad, Ross And Louie went out hare Shooting. We got 19 hares in one night. We chased one hare and it was running at about 90 Kilometers an hour. On Sunday me and Bridget went outside and walked down the road to sell raffle tickets for Bridget hockey club. That was my weekend.

For writing in the past few weeks we have been writing narratives. My reflective comments are below.

I really liked writing these narratives, but the editing wasn’t my favorite part but I battled through it. The game of awesome was my favorite part and helped me with this narrative especially. I need to work on my punctuation skills and grammar. Overall I thought I did really well.
